With over 40 years immersed in Information Technology, Supplier Information Assurance, and Cyber Security across government, defence and commercial sectors, I’ve developed deep expertise in securing complex supply chain ecosystems. Through roles including Cyber Innovation Lead for a global investment bank and senior security architect for critical defence programmes, I’ve witnessed first-hand how inadequate supplier assurance can cripple business operations and compromise organisational resilience.
My extensive background in supply chain risk management has involved architecting security frameworks for major defence contractors, implementing third-party assurance programmes for financial institutions, and advising global organisations on supply chain integrity. As Cyber Innovation Lead, I’ve guided numerous solution providers in strengthening their third-party risk management capabilities to address real-world operational challenges.
The industry’s tendency to ‘sleepwalk into supply chain risks’ (as Andy outlines) through outdated approaches and over-reliance on software solutions stems from chronic underfunding, resource constraints, and knowledge gaps. Recent high-profile failures, coupled with mounting regulatory and shareholder pressure, have exposed the limitations of standalone tools and traditional risk management approaches. Simply identifying and documenting supply chain risks is no longer sufficient.
Throughout my career leading supply chain security initiatives, I’ve observed critical disconnects between organisational functions that allow vulnerabilities to evolve into material risks. This insight has reinforced my conviction that modern businesses need a proactive, iterative approach to supplier management.
I joined Supply Assure as a Co-Founder to help organisations transform supply chain security from a necessary cost into a competitive advantage. Our mission is to guide clients in understanding and managing their supplier risk ecosystem through repeatable, secure processes that deliver lasting value.
